Houston Dynamo Vs. Chicago Fire
Game Recap:
Houston Dynamo FC opened the 2026 season with a 2–1 comeback victory over Chicago Fire FC at Shell Energy Stadium, powered by a sensational debut from Brazilian attacker Guilherme, who scored twice.
Chicago struck first in the 31st minute through Hugo Cuypers, but Houston responded after halftime. In the 67th minute, Jack McGlynn delivered a pinpoint pass to Guilherme, who drove into the box and calmly finished to level the match.
Guilherme completed his dream debut in the 78th minute, slotting home the game-winning goal after a rebound from Ezequiel Ponce, sealing all three points for the hosts.
Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond made key saves early to keep Houston within reach, while several new signings — including Mateusz Bogusz — made their club debuts in a revamped Dynamo lineup.
The win improves Houston’s all-time MLS home opener record to 11-2-8 (W-L-D) and gives the club early momentum as they continue their season-opening homestand next week.
